Text messages from DispatchSAM

DispatchSAM, operated by DESIGNFLARE LLC, answers the phone for heating, plumbing and electrical contractors. This page describes exactly how we collect permission to send you a text message, what we send, and how to stop.

How consent is collected

There is no sign-up box and no list for these messages. You reach us by ringing the contractor's own number, or by texting it. There are two ways it happens:

You call the contractor's published business number. Our agent answers as that business and takes the details of the job. If you book an appointment, that booking is what starts the messages about it. While it is still taking your details — before any appointment time is offered, and whether you go on to book or not — the agent asks you once:
“Is it alright if we text you about this? You can reply STOP any time.”
Your answer is recorded against the job you called about. It is asked once and only once; saying no is a complete answer and changes nothing else about the call.
You text that number first. Starting the conversation yourself is permission to reply to it.

What your answer does, and what it does not

This is written plainly because the honest version is more use to you than the tidy one.

Messages about an appointment you booked are sent either way. The confirmation, the reminders before the visit, and the reply when we miss your call are part of the job you rang about. A customer who misses an appointment over a message they once declined is the worse outcome, so we do not withhold those.
Everything beyond the booking needs your yes. The message after the visit, and any follow-up when you enquired and did not book, are sent only if you agreed on the call.
STOP always works, on everything. Reply STOP to any message and we stop immediately and record the opt-out against your number.

We do not buy, rent, or accept lists of phone numbers from anyone — including the contractors who use us — and we never collect a number for messaging from any source other than the two above.

What we send

A reply when we miss your call
Confirmation of an appointment you booked
Reminders before that appointment — the day before, and again a few hours before
A message after the visit, asking whether the job got sorted
A follow-up if you enquired but did not book
An answer when you text us, including HELP and STOP

These relate to a job you called about. We do not sell anything by text, and we never text you on behalf of anyone other than the contractor you called.

Contractors who sign up with us

The rest of this page is about messages to customers who ring a contractor. Contractors who sign up for DispatchSAM are told separately — beside the phone field on the signup form, and out loud if they sign up by phone — that we will text them about setup and their own account from the number they gave us. Those messages are about their account, never marketing on anyone else's behalf, and STOP works the same way.

Frequency, cost, and stopping

Message frequency varies — it depends on whether you book, and how many appointments you have. A booked job is usually four messages: the confirmation, two reminders, and one after the visit. If you enquired and did not book, you may hear from us up to three more times over about a week, and then not again.

We also place one short automated reminder call two hours before an appointment. That is a phone call, not a text, and it does not count towards the numbers above.

Your mobile information is never shared for marketing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties. Your number is used only to send the messages described above, on behalf of the contractor you called.
